MATCH REPORT ROUND 7 - Sunday June 16th

Mail :: Re: Re Match Report Reminder - please have them to me each week by Tuesday COB

After a good win against waverley Park the previous week we travelled to St. Peter’s home ground for Sofia Hurley’s 100th game milestone.
A strong start had us up by 5 goals after the first quarter, St. Peter’s came out playing a great brand of football kicking their first goal of the day and holding us to one goal for the quarter leaving us with much to improve on after the half time break.
The second half started slowly but the girls dug deep in the last quarter kicking away for a much needed 50 point win taking us back up the ladder.
Stars all over the ground played their role with the forwards kicking plenty of goals, the backs beating their opponents when needed and the midfielders working hard going up and down the field all day long.
East Malvern next week is a chance to improve on our 2 point loss last time around so will need to play our best football to keep this win streak going!

MATCH REPORT ROUND 4 - Sunday May 19th

(2053) Mail :: Inbox

After kicking off the season with 3 wins in a row unfortunately we fell short of a 4th to east Malvern Away from home. Playing on one of the biggest grounds I have ever seen the girls had their first fitness test with only 2 on the bench to start the game due to some injuries which must have followed us into the game because by the 4th quarter we were down to no bench.

starting the game off slowly we still managed to lock away 2 goals in the first quarter to take a lead into the change. The second was a better quarter which extended the lead however east Malvern were too strong for us in the third and we went into the final quarter behind for the first time this season. After kicking a quick goal to start the last it looked like we would come back and run away with the win however despite all of our pressure East Malvern were able to take the ball inside their half and lock it down there for the remainder of the game eventually winning by 2 points.

Even in a loss the girls played extremely well despite the hardships face with a larger ground and no bench for rotations. Sofia stepped up into the captain’s role and led from the front, phoebe was outstanding in her ability to switch between the midfield and backline, Leanora really wanted to start climbing the goalkicking ladder with 3 goals to her name and Zoe. G didn’t look like she stopped running once.

Certain things to work on in training to have us ready for next week

MATCH REPORT ROUND 3 - Suday May 12th

Starting the season with 2 impressive wins the girls had their first real test from an impressive east Brighton team. After what could be called a near perfect start, we controlled the first quarter with 4 goals and locked the ball inside our forward half of the ground entering the first break keeping the opposition scoreless. We added two quick goals in the second quarter until East Brighton came alive and controlled the game for the remainder of the quarter but hats off to all the girls in the backline for keeping them scoreless going into half time. The third was one to forget with no score by us and the Vampires kicking two, but the girls were determined to make up for it in the last quarter playing our brand of football and dominating all over the ground again kicking away for a resounding Victory.

Sofia was classy as always in the midfield, Phoebe showed she can play all over the ground, Mimi found plenty of the footy from being in the right set up areas, Elli came to life in the forward line and Harriet had what can only be described as a break out game impressing every time the ball was near.
As a coach I have been blessed with a team that each week performs at the top of their game and uses what is practiced at training.

regards
Brodie Carr U/16 girls Coach
