Match Report Round 1 Sunday April 15th

  • PMCJFC U8s Mixed Team v St Kilda U8 at Murphy's Reserve 0830 15/4/2018
A cold wet and windy day awaited the U8s for their first official match. We welcomed our full team for today's match against St Kilda. Jacob O a late withdrawal due to ongoing injury sat out game but braved the elements to support his mates - that's a true Colt! Speedy recovery we hope.
Ethan, Jax, Connor and Sasha back on deck and ready for first game...all slotted straight into team structure like old hands.
Daniel B captain for the day with his only loss all day the toss, started in the mid field and was inspirational all day.
Some stand out efforts across the ground, too numerous to name. Special mention must go to Thomas G for the running bouncing long range torpedo goal in Q2.... Buddy eat your heart out!
The key to this side is their teamwork and willingness to look for and then pass to a team mate....they show up their older compatriates they do it so well. Nearly all our goals came from hard work moving the ball forward to advantage and linking with a team mate.
When the ball was there to be won on the slippery deck it was a young Colt who rushed in and won it. Tackling and marking across the ground was great too.  Some exceptional defensive efforts kept the opposition to very few scoring chances.
The Saints team knew they had played a well organised and focussed group.
Teamwork and a really even contribution from all 19 players on the day allowed us to record a great win for the season opener.
    Great effort, Go Colts!
