We headed out for 7.45am pre game at East Malvern on a very veru cold morning.
Under the energetic leadership of Captian Will B the team played a cracking first half being 4 players down. The team was amazing to fit through very tough conditions all I congratulate all who played.
We have two games remaining and then the lightning premiership to finish off the season to come.
Another home game against the might of St. Pauls who in round 4 of the year were too strong for us.
This time with James B as captain winning the toss to the cheers of his team mates the team got off to a cracker of a start kicking the first two goals. In what was a fantastic game of football to watch, highlighting the massive improvement the mighty colts players have made throughout the year.
Both teams kept the game on a knifes edge right to the final siren.
Things to work on... getting the ball out of defence and stopping gaols on the line.
Note: We do have a game on this Sunday.
A chilly 3 degrees welcomed the U/8 Blues to Bentleigh Footy Ground.
With a new recruit in Claudia joining the team the team was excited to try out our new two new games plans 1. Us kicking in from a point 2. defending Bentleigh from kicking in from a point.
We got off to a great start with the team working really well together and following the number one rule of pick the ball up and RUN. well as much as we could tell through the thick fog. With the captain Harry J playing his best game for season leading the team from the front goals started to come our way in the first term. A tight 2nd term had the team coming in for the all important oranges to refresh.
A cracking third term had the mighty colts kick away with some great team play in the forward line including Emma kicking her first goal for the year.
With the sun finally coming out Bentleigh had a strong final term, though it was not enough to spoil a cracking first game by Claudia.
Don't forget training is ON this week and we will have a team dinner in the clubrooms at 6pm - and then the long weekend off.
Captains Award - Harry J
Coaches Award - Claudia
Once again playing at home - The storms and rain cleared for the sun to burst through for a lovely start to the game. The captain Finley
decided that due to it being Indigenous Round that the team should have a reflection on the occasion of the day and show respect to the aboriginal community.
We welcomed the team from East Malvern who had been up early as they had their team photos at 7.15am at the East Malvern club rooms!!! (Don't forget our team photos this Wednesday players need to be in full Home Kit.) The team got off to a wonderful start and showed lots of energy and drive form the first ruck. Following the team rule of pick the ball up and run team ball spent a lot of the first quarter in our half of the ground.
In a very tight game both teams tackled well, with the tackler being justly rewarded.
In a very exciting and close game all players gave their all and tried their best. Freddie was part of a massive collision with an opponent and after coming off for a little bit of a rest went straight back out and back in hard at the ball and tried hard all day.
Congratulations to the whole team for their effort and following team rules.
Things to work on
* Get on your opponent when the opposition kicks in
* Give better choices when we are kicking in

Yet another beautiful day greeted The Under 8 Blue Team happy to once again be playing at our home - Murphy's Reserve. After having a stellar first 4 weeks of the season the girls and boys turned up to take on the next challenge in the Hampton Rover JFC and a new higher division. * The only mixed team in our new division too!!!
After a tough first quarter the team regrouped to play final 3 quarters in an outstanding fashion to hold their own across the ground.
With our captain for the game Bridgette leading from the front and chasing down everything the team was congratulated by the opposition coach for being the best tackling side they have ever encountered.
With Izzy playing her best game for the year it is wonderful the improvement from all players week in week out.
Captain Award - Bridgette W

Next Sunday we are at home again 8am for an 8.45am bounce v's East Malvern JFC
A beautiful sunny morning welcomed the U8 Blue team to Murphys Reverse for our 4th game of the season.
With Liam W as our Captian the team gathered with some support from the U8 Reds who were enjoying a bye.
Playing at home against St.Pauls the game got off to a good start though scrappy first half with team showing excellent tackling. With the team number 1rule of get the ball and run reinforced at the break the team kicked clear to be the better team on the day.
At the games end the players led their mothers onto the oval for a team mothers day photo and thank you.
A wonderful team effort against a great team with both sides showing wonderful sportsmanship throughout the game.

See everyone at training on Wednesday
After a minor mix-up with arriving at the wrong ground, our Under 8 Bluesarrived at Glenhuntly park fullof bright smiles on a dreary day to take onthe mighty Ormond. Thanks to Ash Haynes for re-directing everyone!
After a quick warm-up and surveying the reduced size ground the team took to the track with enthusiasm.
Cohen was captaining the day and took the first "bounce" A decisive tap to Declan saw the ball pumped forward. The forward group of Bridgette, Elijah, Harry J and Liam worked fantastically well as a team and the first goal arrived quickly for the Colts. It was a great sign of good things to come.
With Finley, Emma and Harry L also playing well through the middle, we saw numerous forward thrusts by our mids and multiple goals scored by the Colts team. Our backline for the term didn't see much of the ball, but when it came their way they repelled the ball back towards the middle and onward - a great first term for all.
The game tightened up in the second quarter, but with all the Colts tackling really well, they made good ground, with another goal a just
reward and the team came into the half time break full of energy keen to get an orange and a drink and carry on into the second half.
Much of the third term was spent in the Colts forward line, numerous shots for goal were unlucky not to be on target, and the forwards of Charlie, James, Luke, Mitchell and Will played some great defence to win the ball back time and again. A goal proved elusive, but not for lack of trying.
The final term was another strong term for the team, with some good defense and good long kicks to team mates - a particular highlight was a diving mark from Emma that is a contender for mark of the year.
All around a great performance. Our tackling was particularly impressive this week from all players, and our kicking long to team mates continues to improve. Great Job Everyone.
Special mention and thanks to Liam, Elijah, Harry J and Bridgette for making the Ormond players who joined them each quarter feel welcome as part of the Colts team - Well done.
Captains Award: Cohen Haynes - Some nice kicks from Cohen to get the ball moving forward all game.
Coaches Award: Elijah Frost. For great following of our team rules - He got the ball and ran, kicked long to his teammates, and was great at manning up and tackling in defense.
*Port Colts Under 8 Blue vs St Peters*
With the dew still covering the grounds at Bentleigh East, the home of St Peters, the Port Colts mighty Under 8 Blue Boys and Girls arrived with excitement running through their veins.
The players with their shiny new kit bags and the parents with cameras in hand ready to capture the debut game of all involved.
The first half was a massive learning curve for all players and parents alike. After the Captain of the Day - Declan Leivers supplied the oranges the team went onto the ground and played a cracking second half showing massive improvement in all areas of the game.
The final siren sounded and with 3 cheers for St Peters all players received big hugs from the very proud parents.
All players represented Port to the highest level tried their best all day and most of all had so much FUN!
*Special mention to award winners*
Captian Award to Declan Leivers
Coaches Award to Will Bacon
Being a team of only 16 players all parents are needed on deck each week to do one of the jobs here and there. The Team needs another parent to be an umpire please. Talk to Darren if you are interested. A massive thank you to Geoff Collinson - Team Manager for many, many hours setting up TeamStuff and getting everyone organised.
*Things to focus on this week; *
Spreading out when we have the ball
Long kicks to players by themselves
See you all Wednesday
